Description:
This purple velvet bonnet was a woman's theatrical bonnet. It displays lace around the front brim and feathers on the top. This particular bonnet was very elaborate compared to other hats and bonnets worn in the 1850s. Most likely, this bonnet would have been worn for a night out to the theatre or a ball. It is an excellent representation of the style of bonnet a woman would wear for an evening out.
