Description:
This lace cap with satin bows and ties would have been worn in the home in the mid-1800s. During this time period, hats were worn nearly all the time, both indoors and outdoors. Most indoors hats or caps were made of muslin or lace and were often cream or white in color. They were worn indoors to keep hair neat. According to museum records, this cap was worn by Desdemona Church Naysmith in Marshall Michigan.
