Calendar backing is made of a rectangular piece of hard cardboard covered in bright red paper with white lettering reading'Old Kent' on it. Two white and silver plastic screws hold an unopened, plastic wrapped stack of square white calendar pages to the backing panel. The top of the red backing placque has a gold colored grommet in center to allow for hanging. Plain brown paper box.;This calendar was produced for and distributed by the Old Kent Bank as a give-away to customers and clients. This follows a long-standing tradition by many banks of providing calendars at the year's end. Calendar are used extensively when performing research on a local company, as neccesary objects for period piece settings and as documentation on printing and design styles. This calendar is also significant in that it is probably one of the last types of promtional pieces that will bear the Old Kent name. Old Kent Bank has been a locally owned bank for many years. This past year the bank was sold to the larger 'Fifth Third' Bank of Ohio. Local control and the local name will no longer be seen.;Old Kent
