DescriptionThe Advertising Collection is made up of print and three-dimensional artifacts that relate to the marketing of products, services, causes, companies, events and important individuals. The collection is focused largely on West Michigan, but includes some national and international examples. The majority of the collection comes from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Artifacts in this collection include print ads, signs, posters, and trade cards as well as free giveaway items such as sample products, oversize signs and displays. They show the wide variety of products and services that were available during this period and demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit in the region.
