Description:
Folded birch bark bowl with spruce root-wrapped wooden rim. Hand pinked supporting section on the four sides. Remnant of red pigment blocks at intervals around edge of rim. Usually the coiled edging stitches alternate where they enter the bark to help prevent the rim from tearing away. Red pigment blocks imitate applique blocks, often of dyed gut and placed at intervals around the rim.
