This combat helmet, also known as the Brodie helmet is from the United States Army of the United States Armed Forces. It was worn during World War I.

This combat helmet is made of steel. The type of chinstrap bail used indicates that this was an American helmet as does the heating lot number on the underside of the brim.

The Brodie helmet was a steel combat helmet created by John Leopold Brodie in 1915 and was modeled after the Adrian helmets used by the French Army during World War I. It was known as the Mark I helmet in Britain and the M1917 helmet in the United States. This helmet was also commonly called the shrapnel helmet, the Tommy helmet, the Tin Hat, and the doughboy helmet.
