This combat helmet, also known as the Brodie helmet is from either the British Army or the United States Army. It was worn during World War I.
This combat helmet is made of steel. The type of chinstrap bail used indicates that this was a British helmet however it was not uncommon for American servicemen to be issued British helmets. Therefore, it could represent either Army.
The Brodie helmet was a steel combat helmet created by John Leopold Brodie in 1915 and was modeled after the Adrian helmets used by the French Army during World War I. It was known as the Mark I helmet in Britain and the M1917 helmet in the United States. This helmet was also commonly called the shrapnel helmet, the Tommy helmet, the Tin Hat, and the doughboy helmet.
