Description:
Lyman McCrath enlisted 9/27/1861 as a Corporal in CO. D. of the 1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics in Grand Rapids MI. He received promotions to Sergeant , 2nd LT., and 1st LT. He resigned from the regiment in June of 1864. He was the brother of John McCrath also of the 1st Michigan Engineers who collected this archive. Lyman lived in Grand Rapids after the war. He is pictured here as a 1st Lieutenant.
