Description:
CDV card photo of Colonel William P. Innes commander of the 1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics Regiment during the Civil War. Innes served as Commander of the regiment until 10/26/1864 and was promoted Brigadier General in 1865 by brevet. Back of photo states his name and regiment with a date of March 15, 1865 which cannot be correct being he was already mustered out by that date. Picture taken in Nashville Tennesee. Innes lived in Grand Rapids and is buried in Fulton Street Cemetery.
