This black dress is made of velvet. The short sleeves are made of peach-colored crepe and are decorated with beading and pearl seeds. This dress has a dropped waist and the skirt has two tiers of flounce. There is an interior label that reads "The Arthur Weiss Dress, Chicago, New York". Arthur Weiss and Company was founded around 1914 in Chicago, Illinois by Arthur Weiss. The company produced women's fashion and by 1923 it was one of the largest dress making companies in the Middle West with locations in Chicago and New York. Arthur Weiss and Company merged with G.M. Piermont and Company. In 1942 Weiss passed away and the company was liquidated in 1955.
