This one-piece calico overdress that was to be worn with a separate skirt. It has glass buttons down the center front and also has darts. The sleeves are close fitting and have a dropped shoulder seam. There are cartridge pleats at the hem of the dress and gathers at the center back. Features that are indicative of the 1870s are the center back gathers, the long bodice, and the dropped shoulder seam.
According to museum records, this dress has a matching full skirt with a 6" flounce at the hem. The image will be added as the collection is inventoried.
