Description:

The Gewehr 98 was the standard small arm of the imperial German army during the First World War. The model 98 is known as the pinnacle of Paul Mauser's rifle design.  Every improvement through the development of the model 1889 to the 98 was implemented. The third safety lug, improved gas vent holes on the bolt in the event of a case rupture, a gas shield on the bolt sleeve and the bolt guide rib, initially introduced on the model 1894 Swedish contract. Adopted and chambered to fire the 7.92x57mm cartridge initially developed for the the 88 commission rifle. This rifles receiver is marked "Crown/Amberg/1914". Serial number is "5051/b". Stock cartouches are present on the right side of the buttstock.
