Description:
Issued to Lawrence E. Strickland (donor) a member of the crew of the U.S. intelligence ship Pueblo. The ship was captured by North Korean naval forces on January 23, 1968. The men were released on December 22, 1968. Strickland was issued fifteen pieces of clothing before being released to cross the so-called Bridge of No Return en route to freedom and the United States.

Clothing (15 pieces). North Korean POW Clothing. Issued to Prisoners. 
One set of fatigues. Grey Knit. Fleece lined pants and sweat shirt. 
Shirt and pants, Light grey cotton twill.
Pair of tennis shoes. Above the ankle, six (6) eyelet, black trim on white rubber.
Pair of muslin under shorts.
Two pars of socks. One grey with blue stripes, other pair tan with yellow stripes.
One black twill cap marked Navy-7
One belt, blue and brown plastic, silver colored buckle with red inset and yellow owl.
One handkerchief, blue pink and white border.
One overcoat. Navy blue, quilted, full length with black buttons and belt on back. Black lining.

Lawrence "Larry" E. Strickland, originally of Michigan, served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a crewmember of the USS Pueblo, a spy ship that was captured by North Korea on January 23rd, 1968 for sailing in North Korean waters. Strickland, along with 81 other crewmembers, was held captive and tortured for 11 months in North Korea until their return was negotiated. On December 23rd, 1968 the crewmembers crossed the Bridge-of-No-Return into South Korea and into freedom.
