This c. 1890 black Portland Cutter sleigh has a red upholstered interior. The body has green, gold, and red pinstripes around the edges. It was restored in 1980. Cutter is an American name for a lightweight horse-drawn sled. This type, the Portland, had a square body as well as a curved dash. It was one of the most popular American models. Sleigh races were a popular sport and this is the type of sleigh that would have been used.
