Description:
This felt hat features a wrap that goes through two loopholes on either side of the hat and on top of the crown. The wrap can be used to tie the hat underneath the chin. It is woven with metallic thread. It was made by Leocadia Jones in Grand Rapids, however, there is also an interior label with the name Harryson on it.  During this time period, hats were small in size and fit more closely to the head.

Leocadia Jones was born in 1892 and was a prominent hatmaker in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started her business at Friedman-Spring Dry Good Company in 1925 and a year later she opened her own shop at 24 Sheldon Avenue Southeast. In 1927 Leocadia's shop moved to 8 Jefferson Ave Southeast. She stayed in business until 1956 when her husband, John Jones, passed away. Leocadia and John had a daughter Margaret who was born in 1923. Leocadia passed away on October 20th, 1961.
