Description:
This hat of green satin features artificial flowers on the top and underneath the brim. In the 1880s women's hats were very elaborate and displayed decorations such as ribbons, feathers, lace, and flowers. This style of hat was mostly likely worn with a hairstyle of large curls or chignons at the neck. It would have most likely been worn at an angle on the top of the head. This hat is an excellent example of the fashionable headwear worn by women in the 1880s.
