Description:
This tan felt hat has brown ribbon lining the brim. During the 1880s, hats were worn only outdoors and they were often small or medium in size. Decorations and embellishments were often located on the top of the hat and included lace, feathers, and ribbons. This particular hat would have most likely been worn at an angle and secured with hat pins. It is a modest example of the styles of hats worn during the 1880s.
