This cotton bonnet features a checked pattern woven into the pattern. There is a curtain sewn along the back of the neck that is gathered where it meets the bonnet. There is a single ribbon on the proper right side that would have been used to tie under the chin to help keep the bonnet secure. The left ribbon is missing.
