Description:
This cane sword, also known as a swordstick, is made of wood and has a metal handle as well as a hole underneath the handle in which a string could be put through. It has a metal ferrule and conceals a blade of 17.25 inches. In the 18th and 19th century, it was becoming less acceptable for men to openly carry a sword. Many men who were skilled in swordsmanship still wished to carry one for self-defense therefore, the cane sword was invented. These specialized canes allowed the weapon to stay concealed while also staying easily accessible.
