These shoes, circa 1956, feature a red inner soles and approximately 2-3 inch heels. The outside of the shoe is covered in a matte black fabric. The structure of the shoe comes to a rounded point at the toe. This style has stayed in fashion for many decades. At the toe and around the bottom of the opening (called the toebox), the shoe is decorated with small black satin rosettes and singular curving lines of dark silver rhinestones. The inside of the shoes are red synthetic leather and embossed in gold with the words: “Sohari, Ehinger Design”, “Sohari” in uncapitalized sans serif font and “Enhinger Design” in a script font. Sohari was shoe store at the time and in the early 60’s. This shoe belongs in an outfit with dress number 148603. The dress appears to be made from a similar synthetic material in the same shade of black. The dress is tea length (around mid-shin) and the dark color implies use in the evening or winter, though as the dress lacks sleeves, winter clothing is less likely. Considering the amount of decoration on the shoes, it is most probable that this outfit was used as evening-ware. Annika Staal, 11/12/2017
