Description:
Small bronze ushebti statuette of Osiris. The figure wears the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt, and holds a crook and flail in his crossed arms. Ushebtis were stauettes placed in tombs. They were believed to answer for the deceased when he/she was called to toil in the fields in the afterlife. Also called respondents, they were most often made of wood, clay, stone, or faience (glazed earthenware or pottery). This figure most likely dates to the Twelfth or Thirteenth dynasties.
