This cardboard record contains a personal message and song from Albert Kidney who served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. Recorded using facilities provided by the American Red Cross, records such as this allowed deployed military personnel to send audio messages home to friends and family. 

Albert Roy Kidney was born on October 29th, 1922 in Shelbyville, Michigan. In 1943, he married Vivian Doxey and enlisted in the United States Army where he served until 1945. After being discharged from the Army, Kidney began working for General Motors where he stayed until he retired 34 years later. He passed away on September 21st, 1994 in Wayland, Michigan.
