Description:
This China War Memorial medal was awarded to Glenn A. Barrett of the United States Army on November 6th, 1995 on behalf of the government of the Republic of China (ROC) for his heroic service in the China Theatre during World War II. Barrett served in the Army between 1943 and 1946. 

The China War Memorial medal, properly known as the Medal In Commemoration of Victory in the Resistance Against Aggression", features the Lu-Kou-Chia Bridge (Marco Polo Bridge) with the flags of the Republic of China and her Armed Forces above it. Between the flags is the portrait of Chiang Kai-shek who was Chairman of the Military Committee of the National Government.

Glenn Barrett was born on March 20th, 1923 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He graduated from Union High School in 1940 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He served overseas in the 31st Signal Service Battalion in the China-Burma-India Theatre and ended his service in May of 1946. After the war, he worked for Jarecki Corp. and Tassell Industries before retiring in 1985. He passed away on May 8th, 2000.
