The Henderson-Ames Company was located in Kalamazoo, Michigan and was founded in 1850 by Frank Henderson. Frank originally sold merchandise such as swords and regalia under his own name. This lasted until he formed a partnership with Theron F. Giddings in 1871. The company was renamed Henderson and Giddings Company but reverted back to Frank Henderson in 1873. Henderson Ames Company was formed in 1893 and kept the name until 1923. It was later bought in 1925 by M.C. Lilley and Company and the name was changed to The Lilley Company. The name was changed again in 1931 to Lilley-Ames Company. The company was bought in 1951 by C.W. Ward. Schouten, General John H. (donor)
