This U of M face mask has elastic ear bands and is made of cotton fabric decorated with blue and yellow M's. It was created during the COVID-19 pandemic by local artist Reginald James who made homemade masks for the public during the crisis. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer required the wearing of face coverings when in enclosed public places so many individuals began making their own to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
