Stiff shoulder board style epaulettes are made of blue wool edged in gold braid. There is an appliqued number "2" and two bars on either side of the number, made from silver metallic thread on top of the blue fabric.;Civil War vetran Edwin Pierce wore these with his uniform in 1879 while serving as a Captain in the Michigan State troops.
