Description:
These drawers, also known as knickers after 1910, are made of cotton and have lace trim at the hems. There is a single button closure at the back of the waist and the crotch is open. Earlier versions of women's drawers had an open crotch for hygiene purposes. It was possible that once a corset was put on, drawers were unable to be pulled down so the crotch was left unsewn.
