Description:
These drawers, also known as knickers after 1910, are made of cotton and have lace trim on the legs. There is a button closure at the front of the waist and the crotch is open. Earlier versions of women's drawers had an open crotch for hygiene purposes. It was possible that once a corset was put on, drawers were unable to be pulled down so the crotch was left unsewn.
