From the Yao Mien or Mian minority in the Yunnan Province. The Yao are a fairly large minority that primarily live in the mountains of southern China, but are also found in Northern Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. They have traditionally engaged in farming and forestry.
Traditionally-dressed Yao men wear a tunic jacket and loose trousers and black embroidered caps similar in appearance to skull caps worn by some Muslims.
