This photograph shows a view looking down Monroe Street from Ottawa Avenue. There is a large arch set up in the middle of the street with the phrase "Welcome to the Army of the Cumberland" written across it. Numerous American flags are visible throughout the frame.;"Property of C E Belknap" and "Looking down Monroe from Ottawa 1885" written in pen on back of photograph.;The Army of the Cumberland was one of the principal Union armies in the Western Theater during the American Civil War. It was originally known as the Army of the Ohio.
