Description:
This brown hat is made of mink fur and has a rolled brim. The crown is round and there is a leather embellishment on the proper right side. The interior is lined with silk and there is a brown petersham sweatband. This hat also has two labels that read "Amrose, New York" and "Leocadia Jones, Grand Rapids". 

This hat was worn by the donor's mother.

Leocadia Jones was born in 1892 and was a prominent hatmaker in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She started her business at Friedman-Spring Dry Good Company in 1925 and a year later she opened her own shop at 24 Sheldon Avenue Southeast. In 1927 Leocadia's shop moved to 8 Jefferson Ave Southeast. She stayed in business until 1956 when her husband, John Jones, passed away. Leocadia and John had a daughter Margaret who was born in 1923. Leocadia passed away on October 20th, 1961.
