Butter yellow-colored soapstone miniature carving of a multi-leveled pagoda.;Pagodas are multi-leveled towers, usually in the center of temple complexes, that house and protect Budhist relics. They are a significant architectural symbol of China, and are often depicted in art or described in poetry and songs. This carving will be used as a "touch it" in the education collection to teach about traditional Chinese culture.;Originally an unaccessioned item in a school loan kit about China.;Pagodas are multi-leveled towers, usually in the center of temple complexes, that house and protect Budhist relics.
