Description:
Large blue silk flag with embroidered Michigan State Crest with two crossed rifles over the top. Crest is surrounded by laurel wreath. Gold fringe along three edges.;Post Civil War Flag. The Innes Rifles was mustered into service with the Michigan State Troops ( a precursor to the Michigan National Guard) on December 16, 1884, as Company K.;"Innes Rifles, E Pluribus Unum, Tuebor, Grand Rapids, Mich.";Receipt found in Institutional Archives dates June 30, 1920, "In consideration of the payment of the sum of Seventy-Nine and 25/100 Dollars ($79.25) this day received and hereby acknowledgeed, ROBERT W. INNES has sold the and by these present does sell to the KENT SCIENTIFIC MUSEUM of Grand Rapid Michigan, a certain silk flag or banner, which formerly belonged to the Innes Rifles, so-called, of Grand Rapids Michigan, and was presented to that organization during the life of his father, General William P. Innes. "

Thank God for Michigan: Stories from the Civil War (June 6 2011 – March 29 2015)
Thank God for Michigan was an exhibition developed by the GRPM to commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Civil War.  The exhibit featured over 150 artifacts from the GRPM's collection and told the story of the Civil War through the lens of soldiers and civilians from Michigan.
