Description:
This black cap is made of gabardine and has a ribbed black ribbon around the base of the crown. It has a leather brim and a red cross on the center front. It belonged to William Frederick Blake who became a Knights Templar in 1912. It is accompanied by a black cover.
This type of cap was often worn by Knights Templars during their drilling and practice sessions.

William Frederick Blake was born in 1851 in Farmington Hills, Maine. Around 1900 he moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and in 1912 he joined the Knights Templar. He was also a member of the Saladin Shriners of Grand Rapids. Blake passed away in 1915.
