Women's Clothing ➔ Blouse

Description:
This blouse is made of aqua-colored cotton and features white applique along the yoke and three buttons down the center front. It is sleeveless and has a convertible collar. An interior tag reads "48".

As women moved into the workforce during World War II, they found that they needed more comfortable and utilitarian wear. After the war, when women returned to working in the home, the desire to still have clothing that was more informal and utilitarian persisted. Clothing made from denim and washable cottons were marketed as playwear or 'work togs.' This blouse is a good example of that trend.
