Ovoid-shaped Easter egg ornament. Painted red, each side divided into quadrants by black lines, infilled with black and yellow designs of lines or pine boughs.;This Egg is one of a set which are excellent examples of an informal or folk craft from Poland. They are significant because they demonstrate how the holiday of Easter is celebrated in Poland, and because they demonstrate what was important for one Grand Rapids emmigrant from Poland to bring as a remembrance of her home country.;Brought from Poland to Grand Rapids by Wilma Bushewicz when she immigrated to America in 1962.

Robert C. Bushewicz was born in Michigan on July 9th, 1917. He served in World War I in the Pacific Theatre and was a member of the Polish Heritage Society, the American Legion Post 356, and the Grand Valley Artist Association. He worked at the Grand Rapids Public Museum as the Museum Artist and Chief Preparator of Exhibits from 1961 until his retirement in 1980. Bushewicz passed away on June 21st, 2008, and was buried at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
