Dorothy Stuart Blake was born July 23, 1889 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She received her A.B. degree from Oberlin College and studied violin there. She obtained her Masters of Arts in Teaching at Harvard and taught Latin in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She collected and distributed to many of her descendants and universities significant Blake family documents. These included personal belongs such as furniture, paintings, and other possessions that she valued. Some of the historical documents she collected are now housed in the Schlesinger Library at Harvard and the Bentley Library at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She passed away in 1977 at the age of 88.
