Photo Album containing family photos as well as a many of men in uniform, most of company K 3rd Michigan Infantry regiment in the Civil War. Album belonged to Alfred Pelton member of the 3rd Michigan Infantry Co K.;Carried by donor's father Alfred Pelton in Civil War.

Alfred Pelton was born in Ontario Canada 4/24/41 to a large family of at the time 14 children. The family came to Kent County Michigan the following year and had one more child. Alfreds mother dies when he was ten and father dies 3 years later. Alfred enlists in the 3rd Michigan Infantry at the age of 20 in 1861 and serves until January of 1865. He is severely wounded at Spotsylvania Court House and has his left arm amputated. After returning home he marries Eliza Dennis in 1868 and have 7 children. He served briefly as a U.S. Postmaster and his occupation in the 1880 census says "Farms".  Alfred dies in 1893 and is buried in Oakhill Cemetery Grand Rapids Michigan.
