Lawrence "Larry" E. Strickland, originally of Michigan, served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a crewmember of the USS Pueblo, a spy ship that was captured by North Korea on January 23rd, 1968 for sailing in North Korean waters. Strickland, along with 81 other crewmembers, was held captive and tortured for 11 months in North Korea until their return was negotiated. On December 23rd, 1968 the crewmembers crossed the Bridge-of-No-Return into South Korea and into freedom.
