This watchclock is in a round leather case that has a strap. There is a plate on the front of the case that reads "Detex Newman" and there is a keyhole above that on the edge. It was created by the Detex Watchclock Corporation and was used by guard patrols to ensure that guards were making their appointed rounds at the correct times. At each watchclock station there would be a key that could be inserted into the keyhole. When turned, it would print a number onto a strip of paper inside the clock, tracking when the guard was there.

Detex Corporation (creator) Alternate names: Detex Watchclock Corporation, Newman Clock Company, Newman Watchclock Corporation The origins of Detex Corporation root back to the Newman Clock Company established by Abraham A. Newman in 1878. The company originally manufactured and sold stationary watchclocks but in 1902 it began to manufacture a portable watchclock called the Newman which could use a station key to emboss the time on a paper located in the interior of the clock. The company was sold to Charles E. Renshaw in 1909 and in the 1920s, he acquired many different clock companies which he merged to create the Newman Watchclock Corporation. A few months later the name was changed to Detex Watchclock Corporation. The company saw much success over the years and in 1964 the name was changed to Detex Corporation. Roland Beilfuss (donor)
