The photograph depicts an Americanization Class, at American Seating in Grand Rapids. The image shows a group of men sitting in chairs in a classroom type setting. There is a large American flag hung on the wall and a blackboard at the front of the room. During this era, the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) taught Americanization classes in furniture factories. This image appeared in the Museum's “Furniture City” exhibit. 1991.1.48
