Description:
A mimeograph machine can be thought of as an old-fashioned manual copy machine that printed copies by using a stencil through which ink was pressed. 

Edison mimeograph No. 1 invented by T. Edison. Wooden box with printing frame, stencil paper, roller, blotting paper, and stylus arm. Also includes a receipt that appears to have been made using the mimeograph.

1) Label on box top reads; 'The Edison Mimeograph/Invented by THOMAS A. EDISON/Made By A.B. DICK Company, Chicago, ILL., U.S.A.' 

In small black letters under 'Edison Mimeograph: 'Patented/ August 8th 1876./ February 17th 1880/ July 6th 1886./ Oc---- 4th 1887./ Febru----7th 1888./May 2---- 1889./ March 25th 1890.' Gold lettering on front reads; 'No. 1/ EDISON'S MIMEOGRAPH.'. Multicolored decal cartouche shaped label affixed to top of box. Gold decal labels affixed to front of box at opening. Various other labels and markings appear over all pieces in the set.
