Thomas Gilbert White (donor)
Thomas Gilbert White (July 18, 1877 – February 17, 1939) was a noted American expatriate painter who worked in Paris, France, but was born in Grand Haven and grew up in Grand Rapids. Though he spent most of his adult life abroad, Grand Rapids remained his legal address throughout his life. He was from a wealthy and unusually successful artistic family. His brothers are  author Stewart Edward White, and concert violinist Roderick White.
