Continental L-Head 6, 80 h.p. engine; 3-speed transmission. In 1931, Norman De Vaux introduced a new automobile to be built in Grand Rapids: the De Vaux Six. Designed to be economically priced, the original De Vaux offered an amazing number of features for between $595 and $795. The DeVaux's six-cylinder engine was produced by Continental Motors of Muskegon and was capable of reaching speeds of 70-80 miles per hour. The Grand Rapids Police Department maintained a fleet of twelve of these fast cars. In 1932, the final year De Vauxs were produced, a total of 1,358 of these unique automobiles rolled off the assembly line.
