Description:

A mesosiderite (stony-iron meteorite) of petrologic class A and a metamorphic grade 3 or 4. 

The fall was witnessed on May 10, 1879, near Esterville, Iowa.

The two largest specimens recovered, weight 198 kilograms (437 pounds) and 68.5 kilograms (151 pounds).
