Archival Collections ➔ Archival Collection #171 - Billius Stocking

This collection consists of miscellaneous drawing materials owned by Theodore B. Stocking; three Sunday School certificates from the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and five membership receipts for the Kent County Soldiers' Monument Association. The certificates and receipts are made out to various members of the Stocking family. Billius Stocking was one of the earliest pioneers to Grand Rapids, arriving in 1836. In December of 1838, he married Mary Hunt and the couple had five children. Stocking served his area in many ways on government and religious organizations, including two terms as a Justice of the Peace, one as Treasurer of Walker Township, as a deacon of First Reformed Church, and even one term as Under Sheriff of Kent County.
