Description:
This boardwalk chair is formed from an armchair with a canopy and footrest atop a wheeled chasis. The canopy is made of green cloth and features a scalloped pattern with white fabric trim. It covers the while sitting are of the chair and is attached to the chair back with metal rods. The metal rods have a hinge so the canopy can be folded down. The chair itself has wicker arms and a green padded seat and back. There is a wicker magazine holder with a green fabric liner outside the chair's right arm. The footrest is covered in black rubber. The whole assembly sits atop a metal chasis with four tires. The two back tires are larger and are mounted on an axel. The two smaller front tires are on casters and can swivel freely in any direction.
Although of the style of the major East Coast boardwalk chairs, this particular object was used in Michigan by the donor's family at their summer cottage.
Under the seat cushion several people have signed the chair with a note that reads "Summer '78" Names include: McCullough, Schlack, Flynn, and others which are difficult to read.
