History Collection
The Newspaper Collection consists of local West Michigan newspapers that document important events in the history of our community.

The collection is divided into two main parts. First, there are individual newspapers, collected from a variety of donors, usually because of their historical significance. Second, the Grand Rapids Press Collection, which was acquired in 2012, when the Grand Rapids Press donated their entire archives to the Grand Rapids Public Museum. This incredibly significant collection provides a daily record of life in our community for the entire twentieth century. The Grand Rapids Press portion of the collection consists of bound volumes containing every issue of the newspaper from 1890-2012, and alphabetically indexed files of clippings, printed photographs, and negatives from about 1960-2000.
