Radio Remote Control, Philco Mystery Control. Brown polished wooden case with brass and Bakelite dial.;The Philco "Mystery Control" is an early wireless remote control for a console radio. It operated by sending out a pulse at a frequency below the AM band, which was picked up by a receiver on the radio console, and changed the channel. This item is a nice example of a developing technology (wireless remote control) which was significantly ahead of its time. The item is also a nice example of 1930s design and styling.;On adhesive label on bottom of case "Part No. 39-6131" and partially obscured "015549".;Given to Amway corporate archives, but because the item was unrelated to the company's history, they passed it on to the Museum.
